MRIGHTS at the AVACI 2025 International Congress: innovation and copyright at the heart of the debate
11.11.2025

Last week, MRIGHTS took part in the Annual Congress of AVACI (Alliance for the Value of Audiovisual Authors and Composers’ Rights) held in Zagreb.

Together with directors, authors, screenwriters, and colleagues from international collecting societies around the world, we discussed the emerging challenges in the global audiovisual rights sector.

During the event, our President, Gianluigi Chiodaroli, presented MRIGHTS’s rights management model, which combines innovation, transparency, and simplification in the processes of collecting and distributing copyright royalties. This modern and digital approach stands in sharp contrast to the traditional bureaucratic perception of the industry.

Alongside MRIGHTS, Giacomo Arrigoni also spoke at the meeting, sharing his experience as a director and screenwriter and offering a valuable perspective on the relationship between creativity and copyright protection.

The event as a whole addressed key issues for the future of the sector, including:

• The challenges of artificial intelligence and its impact on copyright;

• New legislative perspectives across different countries and continents;

• The role of women and diversity in today’s audiovisual industry;

• The evolution of creative professions in the era of digital platforms.

We conclude this meeting enriched with new ideas, experiences, and connections — a valuable foundation that strengthens our belief that international dialogue is the key to building an increasingly fair, transparent, and innovative rights system, supporting authors in a constantly evolving world.
